How does Rotomoulding work?

Rotomoulding, also knows as Rotational moulding, is a manufacturing process used to create custom plastic products. There are 6 main stages in this process:

  1. Design
  2. Fill
  3. Heat and Rotate
  4. Cool Release
  5. CNC

Rotomoulding Process:

1. Design

If you already have your design ready, we can start the process. Otherwise, if you do not have a computer animated design (CAD) of your product - We can assist you. Once the design is ready, we can start with creating the mould.

2. Fill

Once the mould design has been finalised we are ready to create the mould. The mould will be the structure for your product. Once the mould in in place we are able to start filling with plastic.

3. Heat and Rotate

The plastic is then heated and cooled while rotating. This provides the support and structure for the product.

4. Cool and Release

Once the mould has been completely filled as per the design, the mould is cooled. Once the mould and the product has completely cooled, we are able to remove the mould and the product will remain.

5. CNC

If your product requires any external or internal fixtures, we are able to finalise this with our CNC Router. This can be used to create inlets, holes for mounts, etc.
